Rajya Sabha pays tribute to departed member Madan Lal Saini

Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, was adjourned until 2 pm. after an obituary reference to sitting member from BJP, Madan Lal Saini, who passed away later on Monday night.

As soon as the House convened at 11 am, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu announced the demise of Madan Lal Saini, and the House observed silence as a mark of respect.

Saini (75) passed away on Monday while undergoing treatment at AIIMS in New Delhi. He was diagnosed with an infection in the lungs in a private hospital in Jaipur, and was shifted to Delhi on Saturday. He was being treated under the Hematology Department at AIIMS.

When the House reconvenes at 2 pm, the House will continue to discuss the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address.

The decision to adjourn the Upper House till 2 pm was taken in the morning, at a meeting of leaders of about 15 parties, which was chaired by Chairman Naidu.

The Chairman urged the House to complete the debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address on Tuesday, so that the Prime Minister can give his reply at 2 pm on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to leave for Japan to attend the G20 summit.
