Leaders of several parties in Rajya Sabha on Friday complimented Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu for the way he expressed concern over the wasted Budget session that concluded today, saying it touched the hearts of all in the House and ‘had everything in it’.

Soon after the House was adjourned sine die, several leaders met the Chairman in his chamber and endorsed the concern and anguish conveyed by him in his concluding observations.

The leaders particularly, appreciated the Chairman for quoting Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Ananthasayanam Ayyangar, Gopalaswamy Ayyengar and Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan for presenting the functioning of Rajya Sabha in perspective and for making a compelling introspection over the way things went wrong during the Budget session.

The session saw more than 120 hours wasted in the din over several issues that led to the frequent washout.

Throughout the session, Chairman Naidu made repeated appeals for order in the house, assuring the agitating members of hearing on all the issues raised by them. However, there was no let down in the protest, which resulted in the near wahsout of the session.

Endorsing Chairman’s opinion, the leaders particularly referred to the breakdown of communication among different sections of the House, as highlighted by Venkaiah Naidu, besides display of placards and banners.

The leaders also acknowledged that several burning issues were not discussed during the long session making it a loose-loose situation instead of being a win-win for all.

Some of the leaders even asked for a copy of the closing remarks of Chairman. RS Secretariat officials informed them that record of proceedings will soon be sent to all members.
