First ever National Elections Quiz on RSTV

The first ever National Elections Quiz conducted by the Election Commission of India, premiered on Rajya Sabha TV on Thursday.

To mark the occasion of National Voters Day, the Election Commission is conducting a unique quiz contest to spread awareness about the democratic processes and the election procedures among students.

Over 13.5 lakh students selected from government schools from across the country participated in the initial rounds of the National Election Quiz. Out of this, only 72 brilliant students form 36 teams to contest with each other.
The contestants will be quizzed on election procedures, governance, election laws and history of the Indian Republic. Election procedures in other countries is also something that the students are quizzed on.
Every week, one team out of 6 semi-finalists will be short-listed for the finals which will feature a contest between six top-performing teams.
The champions will get a prize of Rs 1 lakh, the first runner up will receive cash price of Rs 80,000 and second runner up will be awarded Rs 60,000. Teams finishing 4th, 5th and 6th will get Rs 50,000 each.
