Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is undergoing tests at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi for a kidney transplant. The information was shared by her on the micro-blogging site Twitter.
“Friends: This is to update you on my health. I am in AIIMS because of kidney failure. Presently, I am on dialysis. I am undergoing tests for a Kidney transplant. Lord Krishna will bless,” she wrote on her official twitter handle.
The 64-year-old senior leader of the ruling BJP has been in and out of the hospital for last few months. She was earlier admitted to AIIMS in April when she underwent treatment for pneumonia and other health issues.
Recently, she was admitted to AIIMS on November 7 and is being monitored by a team of doctors.
Currently she is admitted at the cardio-neuro centre under the supervision of Balram Airan, Chief of the Cardio Thoracic Centre. Swaraj has also been suffering from diabetes for almost 20 years.
Several leaders across the political spectrum have wished her a speedy recovery.
National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today extended their good wishes for her early recovery.
Farooq Abdullah, who has himself underwent a similar surgery, said, “I will pray that she gets well soon.”
