Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu began his four-day visit to Vietnam by interacting with Indian community in Hanoi where he invited the diaspora to join India’s growth story by taking part in the developmental process.

Lauding the efforts of the Indian diaspora for acting as ambassadors between India and rest of the world by building a better cultural understanding and harmony, Vice President Naidu opined that their role and importance in the progress and development of the nation was undeniable.

Vice President Naidu appreciated the crucial role of the diaspora in identifying new opportunities for collaboration and growth. ‘You are India’s cultural ambassadors and the world sees you as the representatives of Indian values and way of life,’ he added

Vice President Naidu has said that India has become the most favourite investment destinations in the world was moving fast forward to transform itself into a modern 21st-century inclusive-economy with a growth rate of 7.2% to 7.4%

Addressing the Indian diaspora at Vietnam’s Capital Hanoi, Vice President Naidu said that India has been making rapid strides in development with an ambitious, transformative vision coupled with a host of path-breaking reforms such as the transformational tax reform- GST, digitization of the economy, increased connectivity, and infrastructure development.

Pointing that India ranked 3rd in the World Economic Forum’s list of most trusted governments in 2017 and climbed 23 places in 2018 and 30 places in 2017 in the World Bank Ease of Doing Business Index, Vice President Naidu said that the whole world was looking towards India for investments

Observing that India has witnessed a positive swing in stock market indices, foreign exchange reserves and public investment in infrastructure over the past half a decade, Vice President Naidu told the Diaspora that India had become the fastest growing large economy in the world and would become the 3rd largest consumer market in the world by 2030.

Opining that the relationship between India and Vietnam was civilisational, historic and the partnership stood the test of time, Vice President Naidu has said that successive generations of leaders starting from Ho Chi Minh and Mahatma Gandhi to the current leaders have built upon this trust and goodwill.

He reminded that gathering that more than 2000 years ago, Indian monks and traders brought the message of peace and compassion of Lord Buddha to Vietnam.

Saying that India has been a steady and strong developmental partner of Vietnam, the Vice President stressed that India would continue to contribute in aspects such as agriculture, food security, ITEC programmes, defence, conservation and restoration of the Heritage sites and etc.

The Vice President said that Vietnam has been successful in making huge socio-economic advances and said that the country has ensured rapid progress, development and prosperity with sustained high levels of economic growth, combined with vision and foresight of its leadership.

Vice President Naidu who is on a four-day visit to Vietnam will participate in the 16th UN Day of Vesak celebrations in Ha Nam Province and deliver the keynote address.

During his visit, he will interact with the Vice President of Vietnam, Mr. Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Prime Minister, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Chairperson of National Assembly of Vietnam, Kr Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. He will also inaugurate the “Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp” in Hanoi.

The Ambassador of India to Vietnam Parvathaneni Harish, Head of Chancery Aman Bansal, members of Indian Diaspora and others were present at the event.
