The Vice President of India, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu embarks on a state visit to France today to participate in the centenary celebrations of the end to the First World War in Paris.
He will attend the opening ceremony of the Paris Peace Forum, an initiative to improve international cooperation and governance in the areas of peace and security, environment, development, digital and new technologies, and inclusive economy. The event is being attended by about 50 heads of state or government at the culminating ceremony on November 11.
On the First day of his visit, Shri Naidu is scheduled to address Indian Diaspora at the Indian Community Reception hosted by the ambassador.
On November 10, he would unveil the Indian Armed Forces Memorial and lay Wreath before leaving for the The Mairie Hall behind Mayor’s Office for Reception. Shri Naidu will also be witnessing the Exhibition on the role of Indian Armed Forces during the World War and the Memorial The Mairie Hall behind Mayor’s Office.
Later, he will take a rail ride from to Gare de Lyon / Gare du Nord to visit Philharmonie de Paris where he will watch a performance titled “Shell Shock, a requiem of war”, by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.
November 11, Vice President Shri Naidu is scheduled to attend a ceremony to commemorate the Armistice of 1st World War that is presided over by French President Emmanuel Macron. Later, he will depart for Elysee Palace by bus. On Sunday afternoon, Vice President will attend the plenary session during the Opening ceremony of the Paris Peace Forum – Plenary Session. He would return to New Delhi on Monday morning.
