Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today reiterated India’s commitment to human resource development, skill development and building of key research and development institutions in Vietnam. Vice President Naidu while interacting with the Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the National Convention Center, said that India–Vietnam relationship was important not only for the welfare of our two countries but also for maintaining peace and security in the entire region.
Earlier, in the day Vice President Naidu has said that being helpful to others who were in need must become the way of life. Saying that ‘Share and Care’ have the core of Indian philosophy from time immemorial, he called upon people to pay attention to the needs of others, particularly the deprived sections.
Vice President Naidu, while addressing the gathering after inaugurating the Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp held at Embassy of India in Hanoi, said that ‘Jaipur Foot’ was one of the great scientific innovations emerging out of India that has been transforming numerous lives across the world.
‘It is an initiative that provides to the differently abled persons a sense of freedom and mobility, a sense of dignity and an ability to live life fully’ he said.
Vice President Naidu appreciated the efforts of Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti, (BMVSS) for fitment of artificial limbs to people across the globe and said that their efforts have helped people to lead a life of dignity and become productive members of the community.
He said that Indian world view treats the entire world as one large family, and the attitude of empathy, of sharing and caring, of a sharp focus on alleviating the agony of fellow human beings were all part of that a corollary of this view.
Talking about the ‘India for Humanity’ program held in the context of the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, Vice President Naidu said that the life of Father of the nation was an eloquent expression of such attitude and value system.
He said that Gandhi Ji’s vision of service and humanism, and transforming noble thoughts to tangible action has inspired many generations of world leaders. ‘It is the same vision Lord Buddha has given to the world 2500 years ago. That noble vision provides the springboard for the initiative ‘India for Humanity’, he added.
Earlier in the Day, Vice President Naidu paid tributes Vietnamese Revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh at the mausoleum. He also attended a gala event hosted by Chairperson of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Nguyen Kim Thi Ngan in his honour.
Vice President Naidu who is Vietnam for an official four-day visit is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the 16th UN Vesak day event at Tam Chúc Pagoda tomorrow
