Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid tributes to the martyrs of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu called upon people, especially youth, to draw inspiration from the valour, steely resolve & nationalistic commitment displayed by the freedom fighters and leaders during the freedom movement.
On the anniversary of Jallianwala Bagh massacre today, I join the nation in paying my deepest gratitude & homage to the martyrs, who laid down their lives on April 13, 1919. #Jallianwalabagh

PM Narendra Modi said that valour of the martyrs will inspire Indians for the years to come.
“I bow to those martyrs who were killed mercilessly in Jallianwala Bagh on this day. We will never forget their courage and sacrifice,” PM Modi wrote on Twitter.
British Indian troops on the orders of Brigadier Gen Reginald Dyer had opened fire on a large group of people who had gathered at Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar to celebrate Baisakhi, the harvest festival.
At least 400 people were killed and a thousand were injured.
