Vice President visits Ramakrishna Mission in Port Blair

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu visited the Ramakrishna Mission at Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar today and interacted with the monks.

He said that he was greatly impressed by the service being rendered by the Mission for the spiritual, social, economic and educational upliftment of people.

Happy to note that the Mission runs an orphanage and imparts vocational training in tailoring, Information Technology and Electrical and Electronics, he said in a social media post.

Vice President Naidu also appreciated several initiatives taken by the Mission to impart education including free coaching for poor students preparing for the Secondary School Examination, free tutorials for all Port Blair students up to class 12 and the establishment of five Coaching Centres in different villages of the South Andaman District to impart primary education to the children of the weaker sections of society.

The Vice President said that imparting moral, ethical and spiritual values to the younger generation was the need of the hour apart from providing quality, accessible and affordable education.

He further stated that the teachings and preachings of Swami Vivekananda were ever relevant and said “As Swami Vivekananda believed, man-making education is essential for national development.”

He said that the Ramakrishna Mission was rendering invaluable service to humanity across the globe and that the Mission’s multifarious activities cover different areas of human need and social welfare such as education, health, rural development, self-employment, women’s welfare, inter-faith understanding, moral life, spiritual guidance, and relief to victims of calamities.
