Vietnamese Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh arrives in India for a three-day visit, during which a direct flight between the two countries would be announced.

The Vietnamese Vice President held bilateral delegation-level talks with Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu earlier today.

The two leaders exchanged views on political, defence, economic and security issues of mutual interest.

The two sides agreed to continue their close coordination and mutual support at multilateral fora, especially on account of Vietnam becoming non-permanent member of United Nations Security Council (2020-21) and Vietnam assuming the ASEAN Chair in 2020.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu urged the Vice President of Vietnam to provide Indian companies with platforms to invest in Vietnam and also advised Vietnamese companies to invest in India.

The Joint Inauguration of the launch of direct flights between India and Vietnam was held on 12 February 2020 at New Delhi. An agreement was also signed to open a resident office of Voice of Vietnam in New Delhi. Vietnamese Vice-President would visit Bodh Gaya on 13th February 2020.

The visit of the Vietnamese Vice President would strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2016 between the two countries.

After Delhi, she is also scheduled to visit Bodh Gaya on February 13.

India-Vietnam relations are built on the firm foundation of close cultural, historical, civilisational links and are marked by mutual trust and understanding as well as strong cooperation in regional and international fora, the MEA said.
