Indu Bhushan, the CEO of Ayushman Bharat Scheme said that Prime Minister will announce soon the launch date of Ayushman Bharat. Speaking exclusively to the Rajya Sabha TV, he added that they are trying their best to keep ourselves ready for August 15, 2018 date.

While talking exclusively with RSTV correspondent Panchanan Mishra, he said that “Private hospitals would like to be a part of the scheme considering its size, but we will like to take only those hospitals whose quality of treatment is good”.

“For this purpose, we have issued a detailed guideline that indicates the kind of hospitals that will be taken under the scheme,” he said.

Modi government’s flagship scheme — Ayushman Bharat or the National Health Protection Scheme, which will cover over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families (approximately 50 crore beneficiaries) providing coverage upto 5 lakh rupees per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.

The market to be covered under the scheme is going to be very large, which means it is going to be a case of scalable economy, said Mr Indu Bhushan.

“Seeing the market size that is to be covered, I believe that the premium of the scheme should be very low and for needy people it may be nil also. There is discussion going on premium amount between government and Insurance companies,” he added.
